This is where new creatures come from.
Pick two unlocked creatures and test the pair. If the reaction creates something new, you will need to beat that creature in a 1v1 Challenger battle before it becomes an ingredient or teammate.
The Crucible
Creature Collection
Choose a creature to fill the next open slot. After you pick the first one, pairs you have already solved or ruled out are greyed out for the current catalyst.
Creature Codex
The Codex keeps track of what you have found. A new creature appears here as soon as you discover it, but it is not usable until you win its Challenger battle.
Beyond the Codex
There are things in the Lab that aren't counted among the 150.
Mastery
Every creature starts at Common Mastery. New successful Lab reactions and battles earn XP, and each rank also has its own challenge. Higher ranks unlock moves and can make some later recipes work.
My Creatures
A rank needs both enough XP and its listed challenge. Open a creature to check progress or change its four equipped moves.
Daily Discovery
Everyone gets the same formula for the UTC day. Missing a day does not cost anything, and the answer stays hidden until you solve it.
Mystery Formula

Daily recipes only use the eight primordial creatures, so a new save can always take part.

Research Desk
The first time a combination fails, or the first time you lose a specific Challenger battle, you still learn something and earn Research. Repeating either one pays nothing. Research can buy formula clues, Mastery training, and postgame clues.
Formula Analysis
Formula clues only point to reactions you can currently make with your unlocked creatures and catalysts.
Mastery Study
Spend Research to add XP to one creature. The creature still has to finish its rank challenge.
Hidden Form Analysis
After the Codex is complete, Mythic-Mastered creatures can reveal clues about secret forms. Research can narrow those clues down to the exact ritual.
Secret Creature Analysis
After the Great Work, the Secret Archive can contain creatures outside the numbered 150. Research turns each vague lead into a usable recipe.
Affinity Field Guide
Use this when you are choosing moves, planning a Challenger rematch, or building a Trial team.

Catalyst Cabinet
Battles
Challengers unlock creatures you discovered in the Lab. Rival duels and the Dojo let you test teams, Lab Trials open later tiers, and roaming bosses can appear after enough real fights and drop Relics.
Your Team
0 / 3Change your team from a creature's Codex page. If the team is empty, the game fills it from your unlocked creatures.
Dojo Practice
Pick the CPU team yourself, or leave slots on Auto and let the game fill them. Dojo fights give normal battle Mastery XP but no Research.
Auto fills that slot with a reasonable opponent from your unlocked collection.
Lab Trials
The first creature in a new tier can be found normally. After that, pass its 3v3 Lab Trial before more recipes from that tier will work. A Trial can also unlock the next catalyst early.
Relic Vault
No battle in progress
Start a Rival duel here, challenge a newly discovered creature, or open Relics when a boss signal appears.
